Office 2007 and Desktop Mail Clients

Office 2007

Well, by getting the $75 version from www.itsnotcheating.com.au for Office 2007, I've installed it finally.

So... how is it, you ask?

Well, it's different and colourful. Should be interesting to use.

Desktop Mail Clients

Although I usually just use the web-based interfaces such as hotmail etc. (In my case the upgraded hotmail: Live Mail), I decided to have a look at a couple of current offerings.

Outlook 2007

Didn't use it much, but looked ok. Can sync with Hotmail as well as Google Calendar etc. Very colourful - like the rest of Office.

Live Mail Desktop

A very slick looking application, with a lot of potential, however I had problems with it (it's currently in Beta), so will wait until they release a new version. Intergrates, with hotmail, messenger, gmail and a variety of other internet based communication tools.

Audio Tools

Well, I thought it about time to mention a few cool tools again. This time for Audio stuff.

CD Art Display
This is a cool app. It displays cover art for currently playing music, including syncing it with your Messenger display picture if you want. Have used this on and off for ages. A good program.
ml_ipod
Just used this for the first time today, but seems good. It allows you to put music and video on your ipod without using Itunes. An update to the Ipod syncing in Winamp, supports everything, including Album Art.
PMPlib
Similar to lm_ipod, but for iRiver products and some others (eg. Samsung). I used to use EasyH10 (created by the same person).
Rockbox
Alternative jukebox firmware for many players out there. Quite cool.

Winamp also now supports Unicode, my main dislike with it previously.

After doing some reading into a problem for a friend, it appears Gmail does not store the senders IP address in the mail headers. This is obviously for security/anonymity reasons, but I think it would be better to include them.
